Each participant has a dedicated 20-inch lathe, chucks, and tools, with lunch and materials provided.

The SEAS Piston Coring System is a multipurpose deep-water sediment sampling tool configurable for piston coring or gravity and drop coring in water depths up to 7000 meters. Mobilized easily via road or sea freight, the system retrieves core samples up to 24 meters long and accommodates a customizable weight package with up to ten 250kg weights. It features reusable outer steel barrels with PVC or polycarbonate liners, an optional 3m single-use aluminium barrel for short cores, and an attachable 1.5m trigger-weight gravity corer.
